Feeling pressure from DH...

I know he isn't meaning to make me feel this way, but I do none the less...Apparently, my MIL is a beast when it comes to childbirth...She has had 5 children, 4 of them with no drugs...She showed me pictures of their births today that pretty much freaked me out..LOL..DH is always talking about how his mom is so tough and how she didn't even hardly make a sound while giving birth...I know he isn't intentionally making me feel pressured to be wonder-woman, but I do anyways...Any advice on this, or anyone experiencing the same feelings??

Re: Feeling pressure from DH...

  • Just be honest with him. Maybe along the lines of "Honey, I know you are trying to help by telling me stories about your mom's birth experiences, but they aren't helping. They are just making me feel very anxious and pressured to do things like she did."

This! And if it continues, then maybe invite him to spent your delivery in the waiting room with Wonder Woman...Wink

  • how about: "well, when you give birth, you can do it anyway you want to.  i'm new at this and i will take it as it comes and see what happens, but i'm not promising anything."  or something like that.
