Pregnant after a Loss

Eating sugar & how it affects baby???

Do you think that by eating extra sugar when you're pregnant that you are setting up your baby to have weight issues? ?Do you think they will crave sugar more once born? ?

?I eat plenty of healthy stuff but I have been eating more sugar/candy/juices ever since I got my BFP.?

?Any thoughts? ??

Re: Eating sugar & how it affects baby???

  • I have no idea.  I have been craving more sweets with this pregnancy too. I think weight has a lot to do with genetics and lifestyle.  Dh and I are tall and think and very active people.  I am sure our baby will inherit this from us.  I would not worry about it too much.

  • I can only speak on behalf of my SIL.  My nephew has no weight issues but is obsessed with chocolate, which SIL had bagfuls of toward the end of her pg until she developed GD... I doubt it would set anyone up for life though...
  • It may slightly but I think teaching the baby good eating habits after its born will have a lot more affect on future lifestyle.

There was a good article on slate.com this week about how science is blaming a lot of life's woes on what happens in the womb -

  • I have no idea, but my mom had a terrible sweet tooth with all 8 of her kids and I think 6 of the 8 inherited it (I'm one of them!) Smile

  • Uhoh- my baby will be in trouble then. But once she's born I plan on getting back in shape and working out and hopefully by being a role model and raising her in a healthy lifestyle it'll be good enough
