I tried from Day 1, but we were having a hard time nursing (me and the girls). I took a pause for a couple weeks b/c it was so frustrating for me. I tried to do it once a day around Week 4. At Week 5 we started to get the hang of it, and by Week 6 we were pros.
If I didn't figure out how to tandem nurse them I would have given up BF.
I started at week 3 and it only took a few days to get the hang of it. I would have started earlier, but one of my boys was in the NICU for the first week and when he first started BFing he tired easily, so I let him build up some stamina before attempting tandem feeding.

We started at week 2 but BF did not become easier until they were about 6 weeks old and got more efficient at it. Being able to tandem did help though.

We started tandem around 3-4 weeks old (too small at the beginning) - personally I never got the hang of it. I loved nursing, but tandem nursing made me feel like a dairy cow and I couldn't stand it. If I would have had an adequate supply in the first place, I would have dealt with it and we would have tandem nursed all of the time. Since I didn't, I switched to EPing then hung up the pump at 9 weeks.
GL - BFing is tough. I know some people say it is natural and it should just happen - but it isn't always that way. If you can make it work it is worth it
