Anyone's Insurance Pay For Freezing or Storing Embies?

Anyone's Insurance Pay For Freezing or Storing Embies?

Just curious . . . there seems to have been a couple of posts today about FET.  I'm doing an FET "cycle" now.  My transfer is next week 7/6/11.

My insurance covers a certain number of IUIs and IVF, so my FET is covered.  Although all the copays over the past 12 months have really added up, between visits and meds (but I can't complain).

Even though my FET is coverd, I still had to pay for the actual freezing of the embies and pay for a fee for yearly storage.  My clinic gave us a 50% discount on the initial freezing fees because we did an elective single embryo transfer on our first IVF.

At 20-week anatomy scan found IUGR (Intrauterine Growth Restriction), and very low Amniotic Fluid.  Now, I'm High Risk and have weekly ultrasounds to monitor fluid and growth.  If baby runs out of room or is too growth restricted, they will deliver ASAP.  My current goal is to make it to 28 weeks!

Re: Anyone's Insurance Pay For Freezing or Storing Embies?

  • Our insurance pays for nothing IF related --- we are totally OOP for everything.  However, the package we purchased through our RE includes embryo storage for one year should we have any frosties.
