Like specifically. A friend wants to be married by someone other than a religious officiant. She may end up going with a judge, but would rather her sister get internet certified or whatever to marry them. I found the section of the law that lists people in general, like mayors, judges, etc, but is there a way to find names? She went to her town court or town hall and they told her they'd never heard of anyone being married outside of the church!
When I was married my father in law did it. My state law simply says anyone ordained as a religious minister. I had a friend get ordained to officiate another friends wedding. Her sister should be able to easy squeezy.
Good friends of ours were married in NYC by his BFF who got his certificate over the internet. He was in medical school at the time & not religious at all - neither are the bride & groom. It was a really nice touch.
