They're hard poops most of the time, but she poops everyday, so I don't really think it's constipation. Or is it?
She also gets diaper rashes every couple weeks, but they are treatable with cream. Sometimes they get worse before they get better, and right now she's in a 'worse' time.
The day care just called to tell me she pooped at 12:30, a hard one, and it made her cry. DCP applied diaper cream. Thirty minutes later, she had a normal poop that made her cry even worse, and when DCP changed her diaper, she notice that the rash bled a little. She applied more cream then too.
It seems every time I take her to the pediatrician, she's rashless. Even if the day before she has one pretty bad. We've talked about it though, and the doc says that she just thinks Cam has sensitive skin in that area, and that it's nothing to worry about, but she's never seen it, ya know?
I don't know if I should try to get her in this evening to have it looked at to see if it's yeast or something, or just keep applying the cream.
ETA: she also said to start using the Overnight Desitin (aka maximum strength- the purple one) and that if it doesn't at least look better tomorrow that she may need a stronger cream.

Re: My baby has poop issues. :o(
Ruby's butt/genital skin is really sensitive to poop. If she sits in a poopy diaper for even 10 minutes, without cream, it's a bright red, blistered mess. I pretty much keep cream on her round the clock now. I also alternate with yeast cream if it seems like its not getting better.
Unfortunately she poops 4-5 times a day now, so its a constant issue.
I called and left a message at the nurse's desk. I agree with you Wee that bleeding rashes are no good.

Is the rash on her bottom or on her pelvis area? We dealt with this for a whole year with DS and I was livid to take my child to a pediatric dermatologist and learn that he has eczema and his breakouts were happening in his diaper area so they were getting infected and looking like diaper rashes. She gave me cream and he we have never ever seen another rash. I WAS LIVID.
Most doctors won't recognize it, it will probably take a specialist, but like i said I wish someone would've told me that a lot sooner, we dealt with this crap for a whole year.
It's in her butt crack, so it's definitely something that is seriously affected by her bowel movements. the outer areas are all fine.

FWIW, Jack's poops were super hard for about 2 months, and once a week he'd have one that would cripple him. He would have to sit on my lap and squeeze me and bawl until it came out. Then he'd be perfectly fine. But it's back to soft again. I think since we started hardcore pushing vegetables with lunch and dinner, it's made a world of difference. He gets meat, fruit, and vegetables at both meals every day, and hasn't had a hard poop in at least a month.

She has a very well rounded diet. She has vegatables and meat and yogurt with fruits mixed in every day. She doesn't care for fruit in general though, except for apple sauce, unless it's pureed and mixed in with her yogurt. She also has a multi grain waffle or wheat toast every day.

Then maybe it's just a thing they go through. Jack's was right around 9.5 months, so close in age to Camille. But I would for sure take her to the pedi for the rash. She might need something more potent than OTC diaper creams.

Nurse called back, she said the doc says to 'up her juice'. I don't do much juice at all in the first place. Sometimes I'll put a splash of grape juice in her water at dinner, but it's literally just a splash. I don't exactly agree with the juice thing, but I guess if it gets her pooping normal, maybe a little white grape juice or pear juice would be fine?
I could always pull my juicer down and go to town!

Lol, I just got a crazy picture of you juicing everything in sight.
It's the sugar in the juice that makes it work - it pulls water in from outside the intestines to create an equilibrium between the concentrated juice and the less concentrated water of the abdomen.
If you don't want juice, I know people who have had success with coconut oil, giving a 1/2 tsp or so daily.
If you can't get in to see the doc, take a picture of it every day from the good but to the worst, back until it clears up again. Just don't take it anywhere to develop them, print them at home. Close-up pictures of kids genitals will not go over well at WalMart.
I would try the juice, but watch her rash while you do so. Maybe even wait until it clears up a little first. The juice might help with the pooping itself, but it can make diaper rash worse because of the acidity.
