My Dr's office is very insensitive! — The Bump
Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

My Dr's office is very insensitive!

I called yesterday to ask the nurse some questions and they put me through to her voicemail.  After 2.5 hrs, it was getting close to closing and I still had not heard back.  I called again and let the lady know that I never received a call back and she said "Oh, are you pregnant?"  I said "No, I'm going through a miscarriage and need some answers", she responds "Ok then, hold on" and puts me back through to the voicemail!  What a slap in the face!

After not getting the answers I needed, they scheduled me an appt. for today.  I just called to cancel it because I want to give my body another day to see what happens.  (We are really short on money right now and I don't have the $45 for a copay)  When I called and told her my name she started laughing and says "Oh, did I talk to you this morning, so funny you are calling to cancel" and I responded with "No, I'm going through a miscarriage and just not sure what is going on."  She says "Oh, I'm sorry to hear that, I thought you were someone else who just started their period."

Maybe I'm over sensitive right now but all this has just really rubbed me the wrong way!

  • I would have been pissed! I would have asked to speak with whoever was above her. Heck! I would have driven down there to speak with someone in person!

  • I am so sorry. It amazes me how insensitive people are. Idk if you plan on trying again but I would definitely be finding a new Dr. I hope you get the answers you need.

  • I am sorry you have to go through the miscarriage and have to deal with such unprofessional behavior at your doctor's office.. I hope you finally got the answers you wanted but I suggest you try to switch the doc's as soon as you can- even if the doctor is wonderful, you will be dealing with his/her stuff most of the times..

Hugs to you and keep strong

  • I'm so sorry you are having such difficulty with your dr's office.  Have you thought about switching in the future?

  • People are clueless.  And you would HOPE that that would be one place where the people would be the most sensative.  Sorry they're making your day extra crappy.  :(

  • I am super sorry that you have to deal with morons at your Dr.'s office. How unprofessional and rude. You do not deserve that! It would have certainly rubbed me the wrong way too.

  • I completely feel for you with being sick of paying copays! They made me go in for appts every week for 5 weeks @ $40 a pop since they are 'specialists' ... I'm so sorry that you have to deal with insensitive people especially when you are already on edge due to your m/c.  I cancelled many appts too because I was sick of going in there and them doing nothing but talking to me, ummm we can do that over the phone!

Please consider switching Dr.'s... I know I am!

In the meantime, focus on getting your questions answered...  have you been able to do that yet?
