I've seen some giant flowered headbands that I actually like - the caveat being that they aren't made of cheap plastic crap and the baby is actually beautiful and not just any old baby (and usually they have been pro pics, not random candids from mom and dad).
And yes, that does mean that I think there is such a thing as an ugly baby. They may be sweet, they may giggly, but they are just funny looking when it comes down to it.
I make FB friends invisible if they post this sort of thing more than a couple times because I don't think it honors anyone or does anything:
"I have a personal reason for asking if everyone could put this as their status for 1 hour. I'm pretty sure I know the ones that will. Think of someone you know or love who has had cancer. My wish is that in 2011 a cure will be found. Will you post it for 1 hour to honor those who have fought or are a cure will be found? Will you post it for 1 hour to honor those who have fought or are fighting it?"

I agree with this and will even go so far as to say that Abe was pretty ugly when he was new. He had little chicken legs and a huge head, big eyes, and a big nose. Luckily, he grew into his features.

But damn, he's cute now.

I don't even think the books are good. I got about halfway through the first one before I couldn't take any more of Stephanie Meyer's writing.
For some reason DH wanted to watch the movies, so I put them on our Netflix queue. I did not watch them with him, though.

This, I got talked into reading the first book and I thought it was awful. I remember one line from the book that really bugged me, it was something like "He unloosened my arms from around his neck."
UNLOOSENED? Unloosened means tightened. I had to force myself to finish the book after I read that. Unloosened bugs me just like the word unthaw does.

I liked the books, I read them all when I was basically bedridden with Mono and on a moody romance kick, so they fit right in. But the movies creep me out.
We played a "New Moon" drinking game, every time Bella shows signs of being in an abusive relationship, but we got REALLY drunk and ran out of wine and had to quit half way through.

lol. Somehow I enjoyed the books even though I can see that they are pretty crappy. I have always HATED the movies, however I do this thing where I torture myself and watch the movies anyway. Just to make sure they really are as bad as I think they're going to be. They are.

I think those breastfeeding sit-ins are silly. When someone gets told to leave a place because they were breastfeeding, then a ton of women show up to protest by breastfeeding their kids in that place. It seems very AW-ish to me.

Mine is a two-parter. I love all things country/redneck/hillbilly/etc. I think farmer boys are hawt and I love most country music and stick me in a field with a bonfire and a beer and I am a happy camper. Classy no, but I still love it.
BUT. I hate the repeated use of the Confederate flag in that environment. I went to a open concert/fair type even 2 weeks ago and I seen it all. Confederate flags, bikinis, blankets, towels, chairs you name it. For one, I think it looks trashy. and for two, WHY. just why. WTF.

I kind of agree, I think it's negative attention. The lactivist girls I'm friends with down here don't do nurse-ins, but hand out little cards that have the law protecting them on one side, with a list of a few of the benefits of breastfeeding on the other. They're nothing but nice, yet stern, when they are faced with issues like this.

My month board is very puppies and rainbows and extremely boring. We hardly ever do UO/FFFC because no one ever has anything negative or flameful to say.
I don't mind Pooh, but I think Tigger is annoying as hell. Only thing more annoying than tigger are the tigger-people. You know who I'm talking about.
I don't mind it, but I see your Tigger people and raise you Eeyore People. I cannot stand all things Sesame Street. Elmo's voice gives me the jeebies.
I am also not a fan of most character paraphernalia. I don't like clothes, blankets or other wearable items with excessive character usage, especially if it is not Disney. (We have a lot of Toy Story and Cars stuff, and a few Mickey things. But that is it. And none of it is clothing.) And if you are over the age of 12, you shouldn't be wearing character clothing in public anymore. Sorry.
