Pregnant after a Loss

Is lower back pain normal?

This morning I had my weekly NST and a regular OB appt and everything was fine. Then this afternoon I started noticing some lower back pain. I had DH rub it which helped a bit but it's gotten to the point where I can't sleep. I feel like it's coming in waves too. Also, maybe it's just me imagining things but I feel like LO is lower, or at least when he moves it feels lower and it hurts now too.

I don't know if this is normal (i'll be 33wks tomorrow) or if I should be concerned?

Re: Is lower back pain normal?

  • Normally I wouldn't be concerned- I had back aches all throught my pregnancy and now this time the pain has started already! However, since you said it's coming in waves, I'd just give your doctor a call to make sure they're not concerned about back labor. I had back labor with DS and it was definitely consistant. But maybe you're just dehyrdrated and getting braxton hicks? Drink some water, lie down and see if it goes away. I'm sure everything is fine, though.

  • I've been getting braxton hicks and this doesn't feel like them at all, very strange. Yes I got out of bed and immediately started drinking some ice water so we'll see if that helps at all and I am thinking I will call my OB in the morning, even though I was JUST there. Better to be safe than sorry! Thanks for the reply!

  • It is normal, but I don't know if it coming in waves is normal.  That's worth a call to the doctor.  I've noticed pretty constant lower back pain in the evenings in the past couple of weeks as my spine is definitely turning out.  It's been bad enough the past couple of nights to make it hard to get to sleep.  However, mine is constant, and not in waves.
