You'll want to handwash the cover with some wool wash that has lanolin in it. You can also use a lanolin spray to lanolize your cover. I'll then use one or two dry towels to lay the cover on, and let it dry overnight. There are some really good instructions for washing wool on greenmountaindiapers.com.
Check out the video on washing/lanolizing wool on Green Mountain Diapers! It's simple to do, but the video helped me figure out what I was doing the first time.

I use Aveeno baby wash and lanolize with either Lansinoh or Ewe Need It lanolin. Here is a great tutorial:
