Bikini wax as labor starter???

Let preface this by saying I AM NOT THINKING OF TRYING THIS NOW.  God, no.  Talk to me in 6 wks and yes perhaps I will consider.

Anyhow, I heard that a bikini wax often jump starts labor.  I have never had one and can't imagin how awkward and painful that would be.  I was just wondering if that is anything you have heard, or tried.

I've never heard of this an induction method. and I've heard some pretty crazy things about what people will try and do to avoid a medical induction.

Not for me - I've had one monthly since I became pregnant, LOL! I don't think this is true. Someone probably happened to go into labour after getting her bikini waxed and so began another urban legend!

I was just lurking for a packing list for a friend and saw this.

I wanted to get waxed a few days before my due date because hair is icky and when I called around nobody would take my appointment after I told them I was pregnant. I don't know if it's because it could induce labor or if it's because you're nerves are closer to the surface of your skin when you're pregnant.

If your thinking of ways to jump start...I don't know if this is what did it for me or if it was just a coincidence but I took a rather bumpy ride to dinner in a corvette and ate nearly an entire grilled pineapple and some spicy food for dinner - my water broke at 4:30am.  I don't think the corvette is required. ; )

I hope not because I just got a brazilian an hour ago and I'm 38 weeks pregnant.  :-)

It wasn't even any more painful than when I'm not pregnant.  I highly recommend European Wax Center- it's a chain and was actually much less painful than my ordinary wax at a spa.  Look them up to see if there is a location in your area.

My good friend went into labor less than 24 hours after having a bikini wax at 37 1/2 weeks, but she lost her mucus plug a week before and was already dilated a cm or two, so she's pretty sure it was just a coincidence.

I had one with DS and plan to with this one as well.  It didn't do anything with DS.

I have one scheduled for Friday.  I told them I was 35 wks pregnant, and they were cool with it.  Fingers crossed it's just a myth.  Had my internal today and was told I'm still in good shape to go the distance.

I have one scheduled for next Tuesday and I certainly wouldn't mind if it did jump start labor!

I have gotten bikini waxes my entire pregnancy and I am 31 weeks.  I have never heard that and I am still hanging in.  My waxer has 2 kids and she gets them as well.  I think it is a myth.
