WWBOTB: Applying for a job

I found a job that I really want to apply for. I meet all of the requirements except one, my licensure. The license I have is basically a provisional license that I have until I accumulate 3000  hours. I am a little less than 400 hrs away from getting my "real" license. There is nothing I can't do with the provisional license that I couldn't do with the real one, I just have to be under supervision (with a supervisor that I have been with since I graduated from grad school, so I don't need someone on the job to do that). It should take me about 6 months (based on where I work now)if I am working full time to finish my hours.

I am afraid that they won't even consider my application because of this, but the worst they can say is no right? So is it worth it to apply for the job and in my cover letter let them know how many hours I have left?

  • I'd still apply.  As you said, the worst they can say is no.  I think addressing the issue in your cover letter is a good idea.  Good luck!

You said it - I always figure there is no reason you shouldn't apply to any job you want, there is really nothing bad that could come of it, right? I'd put it in the cover letter though, yes.

  • I applied for an LCSW job with only my LSW and it ended up being no problem.  I've also been on the other side of that hiring situation, and if I knew you only had 400hrs left, I'd def. at least give you an interview.  Good luck!

You know me. +6k Baby Birthday Ticker Ticker
