I complained a couple months ago to my local Publix manager because they didn't have any double seat carts. They have the carts with the steering wheels near the adult shopping handle, but all of the straps were broken and poor Audrey slid under the steering wheel and into the shopping basket. Thankfully she laughed when her head got stuck
Anyway, I started shopping at a competing grocery store because that store has the 2-seater carts (like Sam's Club). My local Publix store called today and they said they bought me TWO double seater carts. I'm so excited and very impressed with their customer service!

Sweet! That really was impressive customer service!
I miss Publix--I used to live in GA and that was my go-to grocery store. Wish they had 'em here in TX.
most stores will do this if asked - the squeaky wheel gets the grease! If you don't ask- they don't know.
now the problem with only 2 of these will be that a-hole parents with ONE child will take them.... this happens to me all the time and makes me FUME. I understand when a child wants to sit in the "truck" carts - and I'm OK with that- but the plain doubles that my store got are not "fun" and when i see a parent pushing ONE kid in them I want to smack them.
My local store had only one double and it broke- i complained and got a call back from the national chain and in 2 weeks they had about 5 new ones... and they will bring one out to you if you call when you are about to pull into the parking lot!
That is awesome! I can't count the number of times I have circled/stalked a parking lot looking for a double cart only to be disappointed. I have to end up using my stroller and lugging a handbasket for my items since my BJCM has crappy storage. I love Costco for their carts!
I miss Publix!! We lived in FL until a year ago when we moved to the boonies 14 hours away. (It was -move to the boonies for hubby's job- or -live in a van down by the river-).
I don't recall seeing a double seat cart at the closest grocery store and Costco is an hour away. I may need to think about hiring a sitter just so I can go to the store!
This. Target has really dumb ones that you can't put smaller kids into - I think it's for ages 2 and up and they are huge and hard to steer. Wal-Mart's are the same way. I like the carts with the two seats up where I am so I can have my babies right there within arms reach.
