Starting to think about M's 2nd Bday

Last year we did the big party thing but will be foregoing that this year in favor of a trip to a Kid's Museum and a fun lunch the weekend before with just the three of us and cake and a dinner of M's favorite foods on his actual birthday with just us and my folks.

Super, super chill and I'm so glad I've got it sorted :)

    Think I'll make fried chicken, potato salad, broccoli salad and a cake in the form of a double decker London bus. He likes busses.

    Sounds good to me, too!

    We're doing the family BBQ that we wanted to have last year but didn't due to unforseen circumstances. But prob. just family.

    The bus cake sounds awesome!

    I think we may go the small route next year as well.  M is starting school in August, and the school has a policy that if you have a party and invite any of the kids then you have to invite them all.  That may be OK when he's four, but I can't imagine me with a house full of 2 year olds.  Certainly I would have to invite all of the parents as well.  Sorry to take over your post.  Guess I've been thinking about this a bit myself.

    Small=good.

    Ha!  I am doing just about the same thing -- we are going to the zoo in the morning and a dinner of his favorites the night before.  Just immediate family.  Nothing fancy.

    Not taking over the post at all! And I totally agree with keeping it small until he's old enough to care. First birthdays are one thing, but the next few I think going small is best.

    No big party for us either. I'm just having a few friends and kids over at our house, for a couple of hours. It will be nice to be in the A/C versus last year, when we had it outdoors at the pool and it was 104 degrees!

    We are going to have a party at our favorite playground with Sarah's buddies, probably inviting 10 kids plus parents. We'll bring some food, drink and balloons and just have the kids play.
