Preemies

JP came home at 9:30 PM Friday!

We've lasted 36 hours so far and everything is going pretty well.  He is on schedule, but taking random amounts with his feedings - i suppose to be expected?  I'm hoping by day 3 we'll be at a norm.

DH is taking the 11 and 5 feedings and I'm taking the 2 am - so we're getting through the night ok.  JP slept in the bouncy seat after the 2 am because of spitting up - whatever - he slept and didn't spit - and I slept too :)

Thank goodness for the person that invented bouncy seats!

Re: JP came home at 9:30 PM Friday!

  • Congratulations!  I'm glad things are going well so far.  Andrew slept in a bouncy a lot the first months home - what ever works, I say!

I also used to be a total nazi about how much he was eating each feed as well.  After months in the NICU where everything is so measured it was hard to have him not eat exactly how much I would give him.  But, I noticed that it did even out over time.  Some times he would eat less, sometimes more (and man, when he was going through a growth spurt it felt like we fed him ever hour or two and he was never satisfied!)  All that saying - he'll figure it out soon and as long as he's getting the recommended amt per day it shouldn't matter how much he takes each feed.

Have a blast settling into a new routine with JP at home!

  • Yeah!  My husband and I take turns with taking care of our son.  And my baby boy spent a couple of nights in his bouncy seat when he was younger, with my husband bouncing so baby boy would go to sleep.  My son still likes his bouncy seat for naps.
