WWYD... spots (selling) issue- updated

I sold someone (12) inserts and they say they only received (8).  I am 1,000% sure I sent twelve of them.

I have never had this happen... what would you do????

ETA: Update:  She sent pictures and the package obviously came open during shipment.  USPS sealed it back up with tape that I did not use.  I am refunding her for the missing inserts

Thank you!  I am so glad you like it   I am so upset about this other issue though.  UGH!

I honestly don't know what I would do. Maybe have her check again, and then ask her how she wants the situation fixed? You could leave her negative feedback (but there is no way to prove you did put 12 in there~unless you have record of the package weight [not even sure that would work]). Offer her a refund and have her ship them back (but I am sure you would end up having to pay shipping and you would lose out on 4 inserts). This is a very difficult situation, and I am sorry you are going through this. Sorry I couldn't be of any help!

I just updated... the package got opened during shipment.  Such a bummer!  It makes me feel better though that I am not getting scammed (and I am not crazy, lol).  I am refunding for the four missing inserts.  Damn those plastic bag mailer!!!

I've been having THE WORST experiences with USPS lately! It's really annoying that the package was damaged and there was no communication to the sender or receiver (even a stamp saying "damaged while processing" or something). For an item I ordered on etsy, the seller's shipping label had an unreadable barcode. They left the package sitting in the PO for a week; she finally had to go up to the PO after I messaged her. Then, with the same item, it took over a week to get from upstate NY to NM! Luckily, it was an afghan for my baby's room, and he's still cooking.

Yes, I am so annoyed!!  They should have put some sort of stamp or sticker letting them know that it was damaged.  I'm annoyed that I am out more money on this but it is the easiest way to fix it.  I'm think I'm done with internet biz... lol.  I'm going to strongly encourage people to buy insurance from now on too!

oh man that sucks! i was just going to comment earlier that maybe it'd come open/been damaged during shipping.

if i were you, i'd just automatically include insurance in your shipping costs so that you both are covered.  just don't make it an option. say you won't sell anything w/o insurance anymore.

I've noticed that some sellers offer shipping for extra $ and if it is not chosen they claim they are not responsible once it leaves their hands.
