So, yesterday I experienced the worst cramps of my life. In the past I have had to get my cervix lasered so it's not as strong as it should be and my doctor said that I could go into preterm labor from my cervix dialating too early. Well, needless to say, I freaked out and thought that I was going into preterm labor and going to deliver at just 25 weeks of pregnancy. I went to the hospital and they hooked me up to a machine to monitor contractions and monitor the baby. After doing some tests and "probing/violating me" they came to the conclusion that I was experiencing ligament and muscle pain from the uterus growing and stretching from the weight of the baby growing. The nurse told me that it's not uncommon for women who are 32 weeks along to experience this and that it could last up to two weeks. Why I am experiencing this at all and this early is a mystery to me.
I have never heard of this and the all the women in my family never experienced or heard of such a thing either. So, just in case any of you ladies out there experience hardcore lower abdominal cramps but no bleeding don't freak out like I did. I definitely would call my doctor and let him/her know what's going on but as I had to find out the hard way, this is just yet another annoying pregnancy symptom that can be quite painful.
Has anyone else heard of this or experienced it?
Re: Had a baby scare yesterday....
First of all, I think you did the right thing by going into the hospital. BETTER SAFE THAN SORRY!!!
Secondly, I have experienced some round ligament pain recently. I never experienced it with DD, but this time around I have. After a long drive from Washington to Oregon (four hours or so), I had horrible pubic bone cramping and pain. It was quite painful. Also, a few times a week, I'll have some dull aching pain to the bottom right of my belly button. I recognized what it was because of how many ladies do actually experience this throughout pregnancy. You're not alone. Please don't hesitate to go into the hospital if you suspect you're having issues again - especially if you're at risk for preterm birth.

I experienced the exact same thing a couple weeks ago. The cramps were awful...lasted all day and came in 5 min intervals for about 20-30 seconds.I panicked by the end of the day and headed to the ER. They couldn't really find a cause for mine either since my cervix was closed and I had no bleeding.
The pain eased a bit over the next few days and after that I noticed that I was bigger so I suppose it must have been my uterus trying to stretch.
Sorry to say this but I've been getting this almost daily for about 5 weeks now. I went to the ER also because I thought I was in labor. It turns out that it was just RLP. Mine alternates between extreme pain by my groin (more painful than ovarian cysts/endometriosis/kidney stones) and burning. I had to be put on half-time work restriction (at work half time, working at home the other half) because of the extreme pain and how random it would show up. I've heard that the extreme RLP is more painful than labor, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. If that's the case, I can definitely handle labor!
