WWYD re. birthday dinner

Wednesday my aunt told me that she was probably having her birthday dinner Saturday night but that she'd let me know for sure as it came closer.  At the time, I forgot that DH and I had plans to go to the Watermelon Thump in Luling.  (I know that seems like a silly thing but it was our first "date" and we haven't been able to make it back since. Also, our anniversary is this week so we were just going to do that as our "celebration" since money is tight.)  Today, she called me to see if I could make it on Saturday.  I think it's just a girl's night out thing, too so DH couldn't even go.  I think she'll understand if I don't go but I still feel bad.  (We're close and she does alot of stuff that would typically be a mom's role because of the way my mom is.)

I was thinking about asking if I can take her to lunch on Sunday or Monday, just the two of us.  Do you think that would be a good replacement?  Or, would it be better to offer to take her for a pedicure or something?  I don't have lots of extra cash but I want to do something nice.  What do you think?

  • I think taking her to lunch on Sunday or Monday would be an extra special celebration for the two of you, good idea!

  • I think having lunch with her is a great idea.  I'm sure she'll understand that you're celebrating your anniversary this weekend.
