I get this too. I'm not sure what it is but it sucks. I thought it was my rib cage expanding...but also thought it was reflux/indigestion and took tums....which never really worked. I do notice it when I wear one of my bras for a long time and plan on going this weekend to get a new one. But, I also get it without the bra on! So, I think it's just part of our pregnancies
I've been getting this type of pain since early in my pg in the same spot under my left breast. I get when I wear an underwire bra, a non-underwire bra, a sports bra or no bra. Sometimes, it itches like crazy, other times it's sore to touch, other times it burns. There's never been any redness, bumps, swelling or change in my skin of any kind. It's probably been the weirdest and most annoying symptom of my pg.
I had this pain a couple weeks ago where my ribs were 'spreading' but not I have a constant pain like my skin and muscles are ripping away from my rib bones! Ouch. I can't figure out what it is!

I have had this exactly, since very early on. I thought it was because I was still wearing an underwire bra but I switched over a month ago to soft nursing bras and its still there. I also thought that it could be due to ribs shifting, but I don't understand why its only in one relatively small area. When I complain about it people always say it must be the baby, but it really doesn't feel like it. And its a relatively constant thing, not a kick or a jab. anyway, i can't wait to be done with it.
Exactly. I also switched and tried the wireless bra and wearing no bra as soon as I got home from work. Same pain.
I was talking to a colleague this morning who has had three kids, and she said it happened to her, and it's the ribs widening to make room for baby. And also that the baby could have her foot up in your ribs...especially since we are late in our pregnancies and the baby is getting more packed. She would actually try to gently push the baby down a little bit.

Re: ribcage / breast bone pain
I have pain in the similar spot but my midwife says it is nerve pain from my abs splitting (diastisis).

I thought I was the only one! Here's what helps me:
warm baths, no underwire bras, smaller meals, massages, sitting/standing up straight, laying on my right side.
Hope it helps.
