GC appointment done, CVS next Tuesday

My husband and I had our genetic counseling appointment this afternoon and everything went as expected. Now I just have to make it until next Tuesday for the CVS. I'm nervous, but exited to make sure everything is ok and find out the gender of this LO.

Good Luck!  Everyone has different stories, but it might help to hear that for me, the trans-cervical CVS was not painful at all. It was much more difficult waiting for the results!

I had a transabdominal CVS, and although it's a little weird having a needle stuck in your abdomen (!) the actual needle-in-belly time is only about 45 seconds.   I turned my head away from the monitor during that point and it felt like it went much faster.  The good news is they do an u/s before they begin, so you'll get another peek at the baby.  Also, I was allowed (no, actually instructed) by the doctor to have a glass of wine that night to relax me and the baby.  Here's hoping you get good results.

Thanks for posting this. Mine will also be transabdominal and I've heard mixed reviews, as expected. I'd love if my doctor gave that instruction! I'm actually pretty excited to get everything done so we can start sharing our news. It's now killing me not to share with family and friends. They will all be completely surprised!

I had a transabdominal CVS with my first, and it was not nearly as bad or scary as I thought it would be.  It was fairly quick and didn't hurt, if anything it was just sort of uncomfortable.  It is so nice to hear that everything is okay and it is fun to know if it is a boy or a girl so early in your pregnancy.   I will having another one in about 5 weeks!  Good luck!
