I still felt pressure and the need to push. I still felt contractions, they just weren't as intense.
This exactly, I think it's hit or miss if you can feel or not, I did not feel any pain. I was thankful to be able to feel the pressure of the contractions and when to push.
I didn't feel anything with mine. No pressure, no urge to push, and no contractions. It also didn't really seem to slow my labor down any. I was admitted at 7pm and DS was born at 5:25am the next morning.
I didn't feel any contractions, but I did feel the urge to push. Also, not sure if the Epi was wearing off or what, but I swear I could feel a lot more of her actual delivery than I thought I would.
Thanks for the input ladies! My baby is sunny side up and my doctor is freaking me out that I'm going to have horribly painful back labor so I definitely am going for the epi at this point. Just curious how effective it really was at pain relief.
I felt nothing after receiving my epidurals both times. No pressure, no pain, nothing. In fact, I had to ask the dr several times if I was even pushing.

DD was sunny side up as well, so I was treated to a nice 21+ hour journey through back labor. I felt the pressure of the contractions, and the only thing that made them more comfortable was to push (it felt like I had to poop a big turd with each contraction). I ended up pushing for almost 3 hours, although the majority of that time was "non-productive" pushing -- ie., DD wasn't anywhere near the exit yet. It's good that you know LO's presentation going in so you can be more aware of what's going on than I was (we didn't know she was up until she crowned...grah).
Depends on how much medicine they pump into you! At first I got a big dose, but then had to get it redone because it was only on one side, and then I got another dose to test the new one. I was definitely feeling no pain. But if you get less meds, you will still feel some amount of pain. It's a choice, really, and if you talk to your anesthesiologist they can help balance your needs to have feeling or feel less. I think anyone will tell you that a bit of pain is a small price to pay for a bit of body awareness!

I loved my epi last time, I felt no pain whatsoever. When I was around 9-10 cm. I started getting kinda crampy and my hips were getting sore but that's as far as it went, not painful at all. No pain during pushing either.
If it works correctly, you shouldn't feel any pain although you will feel pressure when it's time to push. Mine didn't work, so I felt pain off and on.

I didn't feel anything with mine either, it was GLORIOUS! I didn't even know when I was having a contraction to push, I had to look at the monitor.
But, that's not always the case. I know people who had one and it didn't take, or it only took on one side, etc.

I could feel a little crampy sensation, but no pain.
But, I didn't have my epi for more than a few hours before my c/s.
