This hot weather reminded me of my fave cool-off food from my girl-hood in Arizona- pour a can of soda into a plastic cup and stick it in the freezer for about an hour. It gets all slushy and is perfect to eat with a spoon on a hot, hot day. PS: I have not had pop in years b/c of all the pregnancy and bfing! Man, a little Diet Coke tastes good on such a hot day! I can't let it become a habit, but it sure is tempting. ![]()
What is your fave food on a hot day?
Re: Post your fave "cool-off" foods!
I'm currently enjoying a homemade iced coffee that rates pretty high, but my fave is the shave ice from this little hole in the wall place in Japantown in San Jose. It's amazing...like newly fallen snow with yummy flavors!
I'm thinking we'll have some gazpacho soup for dinner at some point this week too.
Oooh! I love gazpacho! I'll have to add it to our meal plan!
Where?! I'm wondering if I need to swing by after work.
Shaved ice became a serious pregnancy craving on Saturday morning. I was googling around and couldn't figure out where I could get it...then we went to a Rivercats game and I was a happy camper.
I wish it was easily accessible to me locally though =/
Besides a nice good beer?!?
homemade ice cream! I can not make enough of it.
Also, I may have a small addiction to drumsticks ice cream. When DH and I go camping, I could eat those every day. Oh wait, I did that last year.
I think I remember Ashley M saying she found a good shaved ice spot somewhere near downtown...you might want to check with her. And if you go let me know - L and I will meet you there!
Mmmmm soda slushy. I still do that with Capri Suns from time to time!!
My allllll time favorite popsicles were old school Jello pudding pops. I miss the heck out of those bad boys.

It's on Jackson, it's connected to the manju shop across from Nijiya Market. But I think it's only open on weekends
Frozen in Time in Old Sac used to have shaved ice. Not sure if they do anymore, but maybe worth looking into!
Those were my favorite! I miss them now and wish they would make a come back
my fave cool off food is some good old Watermelon!
