Is it possible to have milk before the baby comes?

I know it's normal to have colostrum, which I've had for several weeks. My breasts are now so heavy and full feeling, and the veins in my chest are all really visible which I remember the LC telling me meant the milk was coming in. I haven't tried to express any since my nipples are super sensitive too. Am I crazy or could I have actual milk already?

ETA: for clarification :-)

Re: Is it possible to have milk before the baby comes?

  • Your not crazy I started leaking (like waking up in a puddle) at 25weeks. I wore pads through the rest of my pregnancy, but the leaking came and went.
  • It is very possible! The advice I've seen, however, is not to stimulate it, on the off chance that it starts contractions. (Usually in order for nipple stimulation to really affect labor though, you'd need a few other things in play at well.)

  • Thanks ladies. I know I'm not completely crazy :-) Alibee- I didn't even think about the stimulation possibly causing contractions, I will definitely just leave the girls alone.
