how many kids do you have/plan on having?

Just wondering how many kids everyone has or are planning to have.  This will be our first and we are beyond excited.  Both DH and I have always wanted two kids, but we are older (me 37 and DH 45) and I am not sure more than one is in the cards for us.  Particularly interested in hearing form folks who plan on having 1 child.  Both DH an I have a younger sibling so we are nervous for just one.

My H and I come from families that have 5 kids, so we have both always wanted from 3-5, but it really all just depends on how we feel about it when the time comes, and how this first one goes! You just never really know!

we plan on being a one and done family. We each have one sibling, but neither one of us have a close relationship with our sibling.

We have been planning on 2, but DH knows that I would love a little girl.  I think the only way we will intentionally go for a third is if the second is a boy as well.

We're aiming for 3.  DH wants more, but I told him babies are expensive and I'll give him 3 for free.  After that, he needs to be making $100,000 for each kid he wants.  (So 4 kids means he needs a salary of $400,000, 5 kids means a $500,000 salary, etc. etc. etc.)

Until January of this year, we had resigned ourselves to the one daughter that we have.  I had scored an exceptional position for the next 12 months with a follow on job starting next year and my next promotion by the time we left country.  We were to stay in Europe until 2014, then move back stateside to enroll the teenager in college.  Then I went to get those pesky malaria pills...and suddenly, life changed.  We went from looking at being footloose, fancy free and running the house nekkid in 3 years to a dream we never thought would come true.  This one, however, will definitely be our last one.

DH and I plan on having 3-4 kids...I have always wanted a big family (he comes from a family of 5 brothers and 1 sister). DH already has a 14 yr old son who grew up as an only child.

I'm an only child and to be honest, it sucks. My dad was in and out of the hospital for a year and there was only me to go and be with him and take him places, etc. Sure it would have been nice to have a sibling when I was younger and had someone to play with but now that I'm older it also sucks that there's no one else to share the burden of a sick parent or planning a funeral or heck just spending time with my crazy dad! (He's a huge handful but I'm his daughter)

We're on #2 and this is it for us. I wanted DD to have a sibling and I pretty much hate being pregnant this time so we're done.

We are expecting #3 and after this we're done.  I always wanted a bigger family.  I picture being older, our kids married and grandchildren and couldn't picture just 2 kids.  I also want to be able to take vacations and go away but it's expensive so we knew having more kids would probably mean doing away with that.  I think 3 is a good number.

It took me a long time to convince DH for number 2  born in 2005 

It took even longer to convince DH for number 3

We are done after number 3.  I do like my kids being spaced out, they are very close even though with the age gap.  My son has gotten lots of comments from teachers about being patient with other kids which I attribute to him having to deal with his little sis.

We definitely want more than 1 and no more than 3. This is our first. However, the next one(s) may be adopted - depends on how the rest of this pregnancy goes.

We originally wanted four, but with fertility issues, DH's Type I diabetes (controlled, but does affect his fertility as he ages), and decisions we've made for the good of the family, we're likely one and done.  If we get a surprise BFP for #2, we'll be thrilled, but I don't think we'll actively pursue fertility treatments.

I would like 2 and DH wants 3.  It took us a while to get pregnant with #1, so it will depend on how the next one goes.  We may also adopt, so that could change things!

We have 1 daughter currently... She is 10 months old. We originally wanted 3 but now that this LO is a boy we are seriously considering being finished with 2. With a lot of thinking 2 seems to be more conducive with our lifestyles and what we want our children to have in life...

We are hoping to have 3, but considering the fact that I will be 33 when I have this first one, I dont know if that will happen. We also tried for about a year, then finally had to have fertility treatment, and were lucky to get pregnant on our first iui cycle. So we'll see what happens. Basically we don't plan on preventing again at any point, and we'll take whatever we are given.

This is probably it for us.  So 2. 

This is my 4th pregnancy and only have 1 living child.  We suffered a late loss and a m/c and i feel like i spent the last 2-3yrs of my life surrounded by pregnancy/TTC/infertility and treatments.  I just want a happy, healthy baby and then be done w/ this chapter of my life although b/c it has been such a big part of my life for years i know i'll miss it too.

We would both love to have 3. We tried almost 3 years to conceive this one, so hopefully future children are easier to make! We had already looked into adoption before we found out that I am pregnant. So, of we can't have 2 more biological children, we will look into adoption. Either way, we're hoping for 3.

We have 3 and are expecting twins this go around.  We are planning to be done after these guys.

we're taking it as they come. DS was planned, this one was we got pregnant while not preventing...

both pregnancies have been brutal with morning sickness, and I just can't imagine having two little ones running around and puking all the time....

 

but that being said, I've ALWAYS wanted 5 and dh wants a bigger family...we might settle for three though...

This is our first. We want two. We actually want 4 but know that we wont be able to financially handle that many without being stressed and having to give up some of our traveling (which we REALLY don't want to do!).....

I have a son from a previous relationship that is 11 years old, plus this one on the way.  We would like to have one more after this one.
