Good morning, ladies. I have a question that I hope some of you all can answer. I am 33 years old, pregnant with my first baby (after 2 long years of unexplained infertility). I had a normal NT scan last week, but my bloodwork came back with a 1 in 120 risk of Down Syndrome and a 1in 43 risk of Trisomy 18. When I met with the genetic counselor yesterday, she told me about my Trisomy 18 risk (my OB only mentioned the Down Syndrome risk when he called with my results). The Trisomy 18 risk terrifies me, as I am a pediatric RN who has actually cared for a baby with this syndrome. It has a horrible prognosis. For this reason, I opted to have a CVS. I do not want to be blindsided at birth or later in this pregnancy if my child has this.
I realize that my baby is more than likely ok, but I was wondering if any of you ladies had a similar experience? I will get the preliminary results on Monday--it cannot get here soon enough.
