NBR: What to do for blue jay?

We have a little blue jay out back that has been hopping around our yard for at least half a week now. We left it alone at first, wondering if just needed to learn to fly, and we also saw the parents around it as soon as we would leave the yard. However, yesterday and today it's hopping less and I think it's wing may be injured. I called our town's animal control, but they are USELESS. Anything I can do for the poor bird?

  • Ugh, tried that... the closest one is an hour away and only takes animals from 10-2, M-F, and IF beds are open. I can't take time off work today, so then I'd have to wait until Monday. I'm going to try the audobon society, and if that doesn't work, probably just put a plate of water out there and let it be. I'm not sure putting it in a shoe box with food and water would do it any good.

  • We found a little bird one day and I had no clue what to do with it. We ended up calling our locally owned pet store and they gave us a number for a 'bird lady' who ran a wildlife rescue. I hope that you can find it some help.
