Success after IF

Baby Shoes

My boys have worn shoes exactly once since they've been born (to see Santa).  I just don't see the need, plus Alex loves to rip his socks off and eat them and Harry seems to love to crawl to adult shoes and eat them.  So I just never got them baby shoes.

But Harry is starting to walk like a caveman (you know, on all fours, but knees not bent like crawling)... so I'm thinking the kid might need some shoes.  Suggestions?  Recommendations?

i had shoes for alex & then realized they were pretty pointless until she started trying to walk.

so around 12 months we got her some soft soled PediPeds.

once she learned to walk in those i got some See Kai Run & some Live & Luca.

  • I'm like you -- Elizabeth didn't have any shoes at all until we got her a pair of Robeez around 12 months!

Our pediatrician recommended bare feet until she was taking actual unassisted steps. And even then, she pushed bare feet inside and soft-sole shoes outside. We didn't get her measured and buy her first pair of Stride Rite shoes until she was 13 months and walking outside where she could step on things.

After 20 months, 3 Clomid cycles and 4 IUI cycles, IVF #1 with ICSI = BFP!

We have the soft soled See Kai Run shoes (their Smaller brand) for daycare, since they go outside and play on the baby playground sometimes, but when he's inside, he's in socks or barefoot! I like the Smaller soft soles because they have a couple rubber pads on the bottom for traction!
  • DD wore just socks to daycare until she started pulling up at 10 months; then her teacher told me that the socks were slipping on the floors.  At that point we got her some soft-soled shoes, which she is still wearing at 14 months, although she is a good walker now.  She has one pair of Robeez and several pairs of Mini Star from Target.  I highly recommend the Mini Star; they are pretty much indistinguishible from Robeez and much cheaper.

  • Jake Hates shoes and hats.. Rips them both of as soon as I put them on.. My pedi also told me no shoes until a year or when they start walking.. Jake is like h&a pulling up standing no walking alone yet. Not sure what we are going to do abt the shoe situation..?!
  • DD has worn soft soled Robeez since she was probably 4 or 5 months.  I don't think she really needed shoes, but we live in a cold climate and she needed something other than socks on her feet outside (mostly back and forth to child care).  Inside she usually wore socks, until she decided she liked to take them off.  I had her wear the Robeez inside as slippers because our house gets chilly.

I got her some soft soled Pedipeds when she started crawling/cruising for her to wear when they play outside at child care.  Now that it's warm she's barefoot or socks inside.

I don't plan to get "real" shoes with hard soles until she's walking well unassisted, so probably in the fall.
