things that annoy me (rational or not, vent)

the word "prego".  i am NOT a pasta sauce

 

having 5 tickers for ONE kid.  unless you are carrying quints, who are all due on different days, you do not need 5 pregnancy tickers.

 

people who treat me with kid-gloves because i am pregnant.  i can open my own **** door, and pick up my own dropped keys, and make my own **** food choices (or whatever otis decides).  don't tell me how bad my wendy's is for me!!  its been a long day!

 

oh, and the woman who complains about being pregnant.  if you can't handle it, maybe you shouldn't have done it for the THIRD time.  you knew it "sucked" the first two times, you are doing it again anyway, so hence-forth-with-ipso-facto-cunundrum: you have lost the priviledge to complain.

we should all be grateful.

I totally agree.  The last one is my worst pet peeve.  After my mc pg women who complain totally irk me.  I know it sucks having morning sickness, but as I was miscarrying I would have given anything to have morning sickness and all of the other pg problems.  

 

One other pet peeve is women who have gender disappointment.   I don't get how you can be upset over the sex on the baby.

Totes agree with you!!  Justin interchanges prego and preggers.  I used to wonder why everyone on the bump hated those terms, but now they make me cringe.

I also used to get super annoyed with really lengthy signatures.  And now, look at mine!!!!  Totes agree about the tickers though.  One's enough.  Maybe two (like one fruit and one anatomical).

So....I don't necessarily disagree with you on all of it, but I do want to step in and say (in the nicest way possible) that what you just posted may very well make some on here feel self concious, which from the little I know, goes against the intent of the boards. I see many 2/12ers that have lots of tickers, sig notations etc., and so what? They seem over-the-moon proud and excited! I also have seen others use words like "prego" or "preggers" in their posts-- I get that you don't but doesn't mean they can't/shouldn't. And if someone wants to complain-- whether it's their first or fifth-- we shouldn't judge. We're all strangers more or less, and while sure, we might not all be friends in "real life" there's an amazing little bond that's being shared by those here, and we choose to be here to support one another. 

Maybe you were having a tough day. I'm sure you're intent wasn't to make anyone feel bad, but I just think that this is supposed to be a positive, safe place for support and your post sounded a bit like it was lashing out at members who haven't done anything other than be themselves, and this is a place where that should be okay...

Just my two cents. Hope you have a relaxing and wonderful night!

the ticker comment wasn't about anyone here.  i haven't seen anyone here with 5+ tickers.  its common courtesy not to have a siggy the length of people's computer screens, though.

 i'm not saying people can't use the word "prego".  people can do whatever they want.  they can use it, not use it, complain about it, praise it, or use it on occasion.  i can't stop them, and why would i?  freedom of speech.  i was just saying i don't like the word.  i also don't like "moist", i can't stop that word either.  though "damp" is an excellent alternative!

 

and the person i was refering to about complaining was someone IRL.  who says she "hates pregnancy" and thinks "its ridiculous to go through this much pain and discomfort *just* for a baby"  she's pg again because her husband doesn't like condoms and she doesn't like BC

i  spent 2 hours with that woman, and 1.5 of them were of her straight complaining.

i think there is a big difference between complaining about your baby, and complaining about not being able to hold down a meal 

 

 

i'm sorry to have put anyone off.  i'm irritable today.

The first two don't bother me meaning I don't care either way. The third point I think you should enjoy. Not the food choice one but when people want to open the door for you or pick up your keys then enjoy it. Believe me when you are 8 months pregnant you will really need the help. I can sort of see your point in the last one. I had a miscarriage in March so I'm really trying not to complain about how I feel but it's kind of hard not to when I can't take care of my toddler the way I used to. I feel guilty but I know we will get past this and all will be well. Don't worry about venting to us when your DH isn't home that's what we are here for.

I hate the word prego as well. And the ticker thing. As far as the special treatment, eh.  I won't have people lecturing me, but if someone wants to open a door? Maybe I'm not feminist enough, but I'll let them do it.

I will, however, continue to tell everyone who will listen how much I dislike pregnancy. Women don't have to enjoy it, and they shouldn't be expected to.

I agree with all of this and what Jessi posted in OP. I'm not quite comfortable posting here yet but had to say thank you for this.
