We are putting Emerson in preschool beginning in August and are very excited about it. I have a huge issue though. The rules of the school state that by three years old they need to be potty trained or they can't attend. Emerson's not potty trained.
If I keep her diaper off she will go all day long, both pee and poop, in the potty.
The minute I put a diaper, pull up, training pants or thin panties on her, it's over with.
I've been really trying to encourage her to go on the potty but, it's driving her to beg for a diaper instead of going around without bottoms on which is when she'll go.
Does anyone have any suggestions. I have two months to get this accomplished. School begins August 15th.
Please HELP!!!!!!
Re: My kid is going to be the one in diapers in Kindergarten-help!
Ok. Time to get rid of all diapers, pull ups and training pants. Talk about wearing panties and practice pulling them down and pulling them up. Stick to your guns and tell her that she is a big girl and big girls don't pee in their pants. She knows how to use the potty, she can do it!
DS1 went bottomless with great success for a while at home too in the learning phase. It took 2 weeks of accidents in his underwear for him to get it. Emerson will get it too. Just give her a try!
She is in school everyday now from 8 to 2. What do I do during the day? Send three or four change of clothes to school?
I have the training pants from Hannah Andersson....would those be equivalent to boys underwear?
Yup. I sent DS1 in underwear with 3 changes of pants. 2 or more accidents a day for the first few days. Then an accident a day for a few days. Then an accident every couple of days. By the end of week 2 it was done.
Lots of laundry, but done. DS attended daycare 9am-5pm five days per week at that time.
I'm not sure, but I can bet they are cheaper! Plus they are real underwear instead of training pants. Maybe she might even want to pick some out? They have some universal characters, like Spongebob, Finding Nemo, etc. That may encourage her as well if she gets to pick them.
Ditto this, except we used the Gerber "training underwear" that you can find in the baby section. She wears both the girl (flowers/pink) and the boy (blue/dinosaurs). They are super soft, absorb a little more than a regular pair of little girls' panties, and they look like regular underwear except they go up higher on her belly.
She's been PT for a year, and still prefers wearing those over thin ones.
Her teacher is going to need to be on board with it to have success! Kids don't always just PT over a weekend! Good luck!
Oh, and make sure she's in pants that are easy to get up and down (or a skirt).
The Hanna Training unders are perfect, IMO for what you're planning to do (and the boys ones aren't any different than the girls...) - I honestly don't see a need to run out and buy more underwear, she just needs time and lots of changes of clothes
IMO, the Hannas are so soft and absorbent, I wouldn't use anything else! (DS still wears them because he likes how soft they are... and he's five!)
