1st Trimester

Can't sleep at night?

I am only 6 weeks along and I am having the hardest time sleeping. It's mainly at night. I get so restless at night when I am trying to sleep and it doesn't matter how I sleep my back hurts. I am a afraid to sleep on my stomach because I don't want to hurt the baby. But laying on my back and on both sides my back hurts too. I wake up 5 times in the night. Then I end up sleeping all day and I feel like I get nothing done.

Is something wrong with me or the baby? Anyone else have the same problem? Any advice and tips?

  • You are fine to sleep on your stomach.  Call your DR if you are worried, that's what they are there for.  8-)

  • I have insomnia really bad right now...it does not go well with the extreme exhaustion.

You can still sleep on your stomach at this point.  The baby is safely tucked behind your pubic bone until the end of the 1st trimester. :)

I had insomnia around that time too along with a back ache. I think it went away around week 7 or 8. And you can sleep on your stomach if you're comfortable that way. Congrats and I hope you start sleeping better soon.
