Moms of 1+. Is it just me or what?

We had a family party yesterday and why do people keep trying to feed my kids from their plate? I really don't care if they thought I was mean? I told them straight up. Absolutely not. Don't feed my kids and don't give them sips of your drink. I don't want them eating after you. I mean a lot of the people weren't even related to me. Not that it matters. Ugh. You'd think folks would know better. But apparently not.

  • I dealt with that as well. The kicker was that my MIL would do things to just make me mad. For example, she would try to give DD some of her Diet Coke when she knew that we where not letting her drink soda. My BIL gave my DD chocolate when she was 9 months old. I was SO mad about that one. He had no clue if she had any allergies.
  • I feel your pain. We had my DD's first birthday party this weekend and although I'm very thankful to my MIL and FIL for watching DS during the party, I kept seeing them giving him sips of soda which really bothers me. Not necessarily because I think it's super bad for him (though he does only get water and milk), but because now when he sees us with a soda and he asks for a sip we say no and he FLIPS out. Ugh.

  • I know what you mean! It's bad enough to have family always doing it. We were out at a restaurant and this lady sitting at another table actually asked us if she could give DS a few pieces of chicken off of her salad. Ummm what!? Who are you! Hell no!!

We ended up throwing a huge fit about giving our child soda. Asking them nicely you would think would be enough, but no. DD is now 3 and we have voiced several times our disapproval of junk food, they know ask us if it is ok to give her certain items being doing so.

I just wish people would ask me first if it was okay.  I don't mind people sharing with DS but if it is something I don't want him to have that bothers me.  I agree with the soda...that is a big no no for me.

  • Really? Well DH and I don't have cold sores and I sure as heck don't want my kids catching it cause someone is feeding them. But that's just me. I plan to keep my kids off of valtrex and zovirax as long as I have A say.
