do you use a bed skirt? NBR

I would like to change our bedding sometime soon, but our mattress and box spring are so thick I can't find a queen duvet cover or comforter that is long/wide enough to cover the box spring.  I'm super tired of the bed skirt look (our bed doesn't look good with a bed skirt anyway).

I've found these, but that doesn't look a whole lot different than the box spring.

What do you use?

Re: do you use a bed skirt? NBR

  • I only use a box spring cover bc it came with my duvet cover and matches the set. I think it depends on your bed, though. If you have railings, just use a fitted sheet like Rosie said. If you have a headboard and maybe a footboard with no railing, I think a box spring cover looks best.

  • I do. I know what you mean - but it's the only way to cover the frame DH had to build under our bed to lower the mattress. (It was crazy tall after we got our new one.)  I just us a very plain white one - no design or pleats or ruffles. Just white and straight.

I can't use one either and I hate the look of it right now. I hadn't seen these before and I might have to spring for one.

  • Our bed has railings, so I just used a fitted sheet.

Also, I use a king size comforter on our queen size bed. We don't have any problems with the king comforter and queen top sheet combo. It looks better on the bed (comes down to the railings and covers box spring) and works better at night for us (no fighting).

I've covered the box spring with a fitted sheet in the past.  It looked fine.

Yep.  This is what we do.  I found one at Target that went with our duvet cover and it was maybe $25?  Easy peasy.

  • I use one because we have a Sleep Number bed and the "box spring" is this ugly black lincoln logs-like stuff that you fit together to make a platform. I thought about the fitted sheet, but the bed is a really big king and a lot of fitted sheets are too small. Like pp, I just got a very plain no-frills bed skirt.
