Hi Ladies-
I'm very happy to report that we welcomed Magdalena Beatriz into the world on Thursday afternoon. She was not a little baby, at 20.5 inches long and 8 lbs. 14 oz.
I had postponed my Thursday induction to this Monday, to give my body a few extra days to go into labor spontaneously. The labor gods took mercy on me, and I went into labor early Thursday morning. I hung out at home with my family, taking walks with the girls. At 11:15, DH and I went for my check up and I was at 5 cm, so off to L & D we went. I had to wait a long time for an epidural, during which my contractions hurt but seemed less intense than when I'd been at home. I got the epidural anyway. Shortly thereafter my doc checked me and I was already between 8 and 9 cms! So we hung out for a couple of hours, pushed for a bit, and out came my giant beautiful baby girl. Minimal scratches, and things are feeling okay down there. Her blood sugars are great (I had GD) and we came home today.
In all the ways my pregnancy sucked, the labor and delivery were great. Breast feeding is challenging (my nipples are already very sore), but I'm hoping it won't be the agony of last time. She latches well, and my colustrum is plentiful. I expect to be an engorged freak show by tomorrow afternoon. Fun!
Here she is...
