Cloth Diapering

Washing cloth diapers the first time

I have one AMP diaper and one Rumperooz diaper (They're pockets). I'm trying them out. Hope to become a full time cloth diaper parent soon! For the first time the AMP diaper says to wash inserts with out the cover but the Rumerooz doesn't say this at all. Should I wash them all separte? Just wondering what you guys did?

TIA! I know I'm probably making it harder than it is.

 Thanks!!!

Re: Washing cloth diapers the first time

  • If they are microfiber inserts then it is fine towash those with the rest of the diaper. If it is a natural fiber like cotton, bamboo, or hemp, it's usually suggested to wash those inserts a couple times separately from the rest so the natural oils wash out (making the inserts more absorbent) and don't get all over the diaper shells. HTH!
  • Got it! So Rumperooz are microfiber and AMP is natural - so I'll wash the bamboo inserts by themselves and then wash the rumperooz together with the AMP cover. And once I've washed them initially by themselves a couple times can they be washed all together?
