  • I actually just bought some of these yesterday at Target because my prenatals expired November of last year and I recently realized it (no more buying in bulk), but I did have one concern about them that maybe you ladies can answer for me.  In the What to Eat When You're Expecting book it says that pregnant women need extra iron.  I noticed the gummies do not have iron in them but my last prenatal vitamins do.  So, are you ladies taking an iron supplement in addition to the gummies?  The gummies sure taste yummy!

I didn't even know that they had fiber ones.

  • Yes I'm taking these too! I have my first OBGYN pre-natal appointment next week and I'm going to ask my doctor about the iron question. I'll share anything I find out. :)

  • I try to get most of my iron from my diet, which isn't a huge issue since I eat meat. But you can also eat fortified cereals, oatmeals, etc. And I'm a bean addict - toot, toot! - so I get a lot of iron that way as well. I just have to remember to take my calcium supplement after I eat, since it can mess with the iron absorption. My doctor is checking my blood work regularly, and I figure it's not something I need to worry about unless she mentions an iron deficiency or anemia. I'm more worried about getting *too much* iron and getting constipated (one reason why I take the fiber supplement). Too much iron can also put you at risk for gestational diabetes and other problems so, again, probably not going to adjust that part of my diet until my doctor raises some cause for concern.
