I've been taking Rainbow Light Organic Prenatal for the first month of my pregnancy and while TTC. I just read somewhere that ginseng is a no-no in pregnancy and it is listed as one of the ingredients in this vitamin. I've stopped taking them, but needless to say, I'm freaking out! I feel stupid for not scrutinizing labels more or discussing with my doctor before taknig. I just assumed no company would put something in a pill that would be harmful. All the info I've found on the Web regarding Ginseng is a little inconclusive. Has anyone else taken these prenatals? How worried should I be?
Re: Has anyone taken Rainbow Light Organic Prenatal?
My doctor does not personally feel the ingredient list on this vitamin is an issue- but every doctor has a different opinion!
Phew, that makes me feel better. I did the same thing, just grabbed the vits that sounded good assuming they were pretty much all the same. Too much googling can make you crazy. I was literally not sleeping at night thinking I'd done something awful.
Velvet: Were you taking the full 4 pill does when you were using?
m1ssl1ss: What about you?
ThePrincess: There was one study with a compound found in Asian and American ginseng that caused birth defects in rats. It's difficult to extrapolate to humans and I'm not sure if doses were anywhere near what is in these vits but many medical sites say taking ginseng is possibly unsafe in pregnancy.
