Success after IF

FIL vent

I know that I just have to get over it and maybe its just the postpartum hormones, but I'm so frustrated about FIL. DH is not close to his dad at all (his dad is remarried, has little kids with his wife and lives several states away), but we sent them pictures of our baby 3 weeks ago and we still haven't gotten a call or a card back from them. DH emailed FIL when she was born and he emailed congrats, but that's it.

When my husband emailed his dad to tell him we were expecting he got a long email back about what a terrible father he had been (he walked out on their family soon after my husband was born) and I guess he must feel guilty and uncomfortable about us having a baby, but I really wished that he would make some attempt to be a grandfather to our daughter in some way. His kids are all under the age of 15, so this might be his only chance to really be an active grandfather. sorry I'm venting... but its frustrating, especially since at our wedding, he said how much he wanted to be a grandfather.

Re: FIL vent

  • I'm sorry.  I know it stinks.  I have he same problem-complete lack of interest, except it is with my own father.

  • I am sorry it is so hard when grandparents or parents let us down like that.
