pasta as finger foods

what type of pasta do you use and what do you put on it?

Re: pasta as finger foods

  • I have spoon fed him pastina, he was not such a fan.

However, he loves it if i give him some penne etc cut up. I usually just use Barilla pasta boiled in a little bit of salt.

  • She gets some of whatever type of pasta we are eating with whatever sauce we have on it.  She does ok with spaghetti, but things like shells and penne are easier for her.  I keep a bag of mini shells on hand and I'll cook some up for her to eat plain if we happen to be having something non-baby friendly for dinner one night.

W has trouble picking up spaghetti still, it's too thin and sticks to the tray of the high chair. He has a much easier time with penne, shell pasta, etc. I usually leave it plain still, but today for lunch he had some leftover Spring Shells and Cheese https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/food-network-kitchens/spring-shells-and-cheese-recipe/index.html and loved it.
  • We started with rotini--it was the easiest for her to grasp.  Now we do all kinds.

I've done it plain, with spaghetti sauce, pesto, cheese, butter and parmasan, etc.

  • I have given her spaghetti with pasta sauce. She didn't have too much trouble picking it up off her try. She loved it, but made a huge mess! Next time I'm going to try shells with just some cheese.
