I wanted to update all those who kindly responded to my post the other day and reminded me that parents know their little ones best. You were all so right!
We followed up by taking our daughter to an OT for an evaluation. The OT took her time making our little one comfortable and, lo and behold, our little one did great. She banged and played appropriately and acted much more like her usual at-home self. The setting was completely different. The OT said we don't need services right now and said she did not see the issues the follow-up clinic noted. We'll see what EI says next month, but I feel much better now that a more realistic assessment was made possible.
I will trust my gut more from now on and try not to be so mediated by the scary evaluators! I will let them do their thing and will always follow up, but I'll remember that I know my daughter!
Thanks again to all.
Re: Update to feeling down after one-year follow-up
Yay! Good job following your instincts, mama!
