I heard this name for a little boy about 10 years ago and loved it. This name has always been on our name list each pregnancy. #1 would have been Mason if a boy but my cousin has since used that name.
This. I just can't on board with such a well known brand name for a baby. Brands = strong associations, and I think most people associate it with guns and razors.
I have known two baby Remingtons. I really dislike the name. It is an odd mixture of pretentious and ordinary--names that end in -ton always seem to be trying too hard and then there is the connection with the shaving brand...
I have a thing for French names, so I really like Remi. It's a name by itself, and I don't think it needs an extended version to use the "nickname" you were planning on.
My college roommate named her son this in January. It took me a while to get on board with it, but it fits the family well. The fact that he is freaking adorable helps.

Many of you are possibly too young (gathering by the Bump as a whole) to remember the TV series Remington Steele. But when I see Remington, I think of the show and Pierce Brosnan who played the character.
you girls crack me up! i hope i don't have a boy then b/c we have nothing else!
How about Remus with the NN Remi?
NOT a fan of Remus! We have a Jeremiah in the family...can't & wouldn't use that. I'm not trying to find a name that fits the NN. It's going to be an all or nothing deal Who knows...we will prob end up with a girl! lol
I've had a Remington in my class for three years (he's 15). He goes by Rem. I don't find it that bad of a name. He has a sister named Castille, so I always thought of the old show Remington Steele.
I guess I am one of the rare few that actually like the name....but for a girl. There was a Remington in my preschool class....a little girl. She went by Remington, Rem, and Remi. And she had a baby sister named Rowan.

I like Remi as well, but I used to have a student with the name.
Re: Remington
Remington makes me think of an electric razor. Remi reminds me of the rat on Ratatouille.
NMS.
This is all I picture.
Ditto.

Never thought of a "gun" or "razor".. but, if you think about it she could be a "hot shot" or a "sharp one"... LOL
I think it's a cute name!!

I'm sorry...it just isn't my style. I either think of:
A) The guns
The razors
C) The rat on the movie Ratatouille
or I think of the three people I know that have a little yappy dog named Remington. Sorry!
