So after going to 42 weeks with my 1st pregnancy and having to be induced to start and continue labor I have been warned by my midwife that there is a possibility/likelyhood that I will have to be induced again this time around. **side note, my mother had to be induced with all 4 of her pregnancies.
Just curious to see if I should even bother hoping for not having to be induced or just plan on it.
Re: Anyone not have to be induced after having to be induced with 1st pregnancy
I was induced starting at 41w5d with DD. I went into labor on my own at 39w4d with DS.
Although I always believed that I had O'd late with DD. (My EDD, and therefore my induction date, was based on LMP.) With DS, I charted so that I'd know when I O'd, and then I made sure to get an early dating u/s, so that my EDD was accurate. My EDD per my chart and dating u/s was nearly two full weeks later than my EDD per LMP.

I don't know how to say this without sounding snarky, but you might very well go to 42 weeks or more again, however that does not mean you will have to have a repeat induction. Inductions do not beget inductions. Your MW probably meant that you could very well grow babies for longer than others and if that is the case, in her practice you would be induced at 42 weeks. That is not the case with all MW. Mine does not suggest inductions for date reasons.
I had my baby at 43 weeks. My SIL (brothers wife) just had her baby 43 weeks. I would not be surprised if this baby decided to take his/her time to come out too. It might be genetic, it might not. It might just be the way my body grows babies.
That said, my Mom had me at 37 weeks, my brother 10 days "late" via induction and my other brother right around his due date.
You really can't know. All you can control is how you choose to approach the situation. I am not saying that being induced at 42 weeks is bad...I am just saying that it is not something you are forced to do.
Best wishes.
I wasn't induced with DD1, but I was close. She came on her own at 41w4d, induction was set at 41w6d. Anyway, I was really really really worried about it all through my second pregnancy because if I went too far overdue I would have to transfer care from the birth center to an OB and hospital. So my midwives had me drinking RRL tea all through pregnancy to tone my uterus, they had me start EPO at 37 weeks daily by mouth and cervix, they started stripping my membranes every week starting at 38 weeks. DD2 was born on her due date! No one was more surprised than me as I fully expected to go at least 10 days overdue.
I would definitely discuss your concerns with your midwife and see what you can do to avoid an induction this time.

Day Three
I was induced with #1 at 42 weeks, and was scheduled to be induced with dd at 42 weeks (although they would have let me go to 43 weeks I was mentally done) and then went into labor on my own the day of my scheduled induction, and since my induction was scheduled at night I didn't have to be induced. My m/w said I just likely grow babies longer than others.
Good luck!
