We ate at a popular chinese buffet style restaurant and i wanted to give Asha tastes of the food (cold and hot) but thought better of it because i had visions of typhoid Mary in my head....who knows who has touched what? Am i being paranoid given that everything else goes in her mouth?

Re: Would you let you 10 month old eat from a buffet restaurant?
You were eating the food, right? Why can't she?
If you think about it, germs are everywhere. You can't protect against everything out there, and in the end, she has an immune system that will likely fight off most of what is out there-- especially if you've been nursing.
I see no reason why she couldn't try the food at a buffet!
Yep.
She is mobile now, right? In that case, she's crawling around on the nasty floor, and has ingested more germs than you'll ever know about. That's what builds healthy immune systems.
If the food is okay for you to eat, its perfectly fine for her to eat it.
Because we're fancy like that.
Because we're fancy like that.
Ditto both ladies! Per our allergist now that E has been diagnosed with a peanut allergy, we are supposed to stay completely away from chinese restaurants because they are notorious for using peanuts in dishes you would never even think of and having cross contamination problems. She has been a few times and we get her steamed rice and steamed broccoli, but she has been eating off of buffets/salad bars since she started table foods.
I love buffets - no trying to entertain a baby while you are waiting for your food to be served.
We took the boys to a buffet a few weeks back. I think they are now rethinking their policy of not charging for babies! Harry had a TON of fish!
