Pregnant after a Loss

swelling and sore feet...not happy about walking

I was even sent to the ER Saturday evening b/c one foot is more swollen than the other. Fortunately no blood clots or anything just normal swelling. I can't stand to be on my feet but I also get bored and can't stay still for very long. Anyone have some amazing remedies that they found work for them? I'm doing the elevating and pool time after work. Here's to hoping my OB tells me to start working from home after my appt on Wednesday.

  • I don't have any brilliant remedies (other than elevation and rest) but just wanted to say I understand your misery :) I remember at one point, I was walking around all day shopping and my ankles and feet were sore swollen by that afternoon that my Old Navy flip flops had left indents on my feet!

Hope you feel better soon :)

  • Movement helps a lot.  You can do leg movements while you sit that will help with blood flow.  Take your ankle and rotate it over and over and over again (i.e. do circles).  Also go up and down with your foot and then side to side.  Point your toes and then flex them, etc... Try clenching your calf muscles and doing sets of 15.  All of these things help to get the blood moving down there and reduce the pooling.  They're also easy to do at your desk or in a chair.

  • I have the same problem. Elevation and water is all I know as far as remedies. I don't like sitting still either. I am on summer vacation and I want to cook and clean and organize and I can only stand for so long before my feet, legs, and hips hate me.

  • Pool time is a great idea- that really helped with DD (she was born in Sept).  That used to feel soooo good to stick my feet in the pool at the end of the day!
