Vent: "Oh, well, you're out of the danger zone anyway..."

That has to be my least favorite pregnancy comment so far.

I finally started telling some close friends about the baby 2 weeks ago, and was pretty clear that we're not telling the world yet and want to keep it off of fb and the like. A large group of couples met up yesterday to check out a festival, and up comes this random girl who I've met twice who says "You're the one pregnant?" (Nice, btw). I must have looked both surprised and shocked, and because she quickly said "Oh was I not supposed to know? So-and-so told me. How far along are you?" When I say 19 weeks, that's when she dismissed it with a laugh and THE comment. Um, sorry, I'm pretty sure I won't feel safe til this little one is in my arms. But thanks for your wisdom. And thanks to so-and-so too.

Erg. That's so annoying that your friends told when you specifically asked them not to. I got a very similar comment at 14 weeks from a good friend (who knew about our loss at 20 weeks). I was not pleased, still being very anxious, and I reminded her that I wasn't really out of the danger zone. I think as soon as I said something, she remembered about our loss and realized her mistake. I am totally with you that I won't really feel safe until we're holding our healthy LO in our arms.

I got that comment from a complete stranger about a week ago and I lit her a$$ up! That just burns me up, considering I had a loss at 18 weeks, I don't feel like I will ever be 'safe' in pregnancy. The girl didn't know what to say after I was done with her and I am pretty sure she started crying when she walked away, and so did I! I just don't understand where people think they can talk without a filter. I know that in both cases they were probably meaning well, but it doesn't make it any easier to hear.

I'm so sorry that your friend spilled the beans and that so and so spewed her ignorance all over you.  I'm still in 1st Tri - and haven't told anyone - but I'm dreading the "danger zone" comments.

I know. My friend came up to my after saying she's sorry she spilled the beans but was excited. Sigh. I think i need better friends.

Oh man!  How tactless can you get!?!  That comment would absolutely piss me off and I would be livid with whoever it was that told her.  I'm sorry you have to deal with all of that.

That comment will irk me too considering our loss was at 17 weeks. I don't really feel too scared yet, but more like it's not real. I think I'll have the hardest time as we get closer to the point of our loss. People just shouldn't talk.
