NBR: Water Bugs

Does anyone know how to get rid of waterbugs?  They are the scary roach looking things and I keep finding them in my bathroom.  I think they have to be coming up the drain.  We have an exterminator for the outside of our units and I don't usually have issues with bugs, but these are terrible.  Everything I read online says Borax, but I don't want to use posion with the kids.  I may just call an exterminating service (I really hate bugs) so if you use a good one could you recomend it.

I'm not sure what part of town you are in, but we use On-Target in Decatur.  Our guys uses clove oil, which is a green substance.  He is great.  If we see a roach after he comes out (within 3 months) he will come out to re-spray.  We usually only see 3-4 roaches a year and they are slow-moving, almost dead by the time we see them.

  • Do you rent?  You may want to call your LL and see if they cover inside sprays in this case.

    Good luck.

  • In the meantime, you could try keeping all your drains closed when not in use. Make it a habit to close the drain like closing a toilet lid. I grew up closing the drains because of those awful water bugs!
