This sounds like a stupid question, but I think it is hard to prounounce because the "t" becomes it's own syllable. For example, try to say "West Parker" or "West (any last name)". Or, try to use it in a sentence..."Is West ready to go?". Doesn't it turn into Wes? DH and I like this name, but it seems to lack flow. What do you all think?
PS....This is a name off of the Bachelorette : )
Re: Is the name West hard to pronounce?
1st off I love the bachelorette, it's a guilty pleasure.
2nd I actually like West and I don't think it's hard to pronounce, it sounds very manly to me.
That being said, I would still probably never use "West" because I think of the opposite- "East" automatically and I think East sounds dumb as a name.
West doesn't turn to "Wes" for me at all unless you were giving him a nn or something. I think West Parker flows fine.
Yeah, I think you're right. But please don't do that to a kid even if it is easy to pronounce.
My only exception would be Westley (as in Princess of the Bride) but really even that is too far.
I think you're right... it's really easy to let the T drop off of the name when you use it in a sentence. Though I suppose a child named West getting called Wes wouldn't be the worst thing.
I don't like the name.
