what is wrong with me

I am sorry.  I feel like I have been whining and complaining all week.  But I don't know what is going on with me, and I am worried (of course).  I started with fever and chills and body aches with no other symptoms wednesday.  I was told to take tylenol, drink lots of fluids and call if I was still running fever on friday.  Well I drank like a fish, took the tylenol, and the fever went away.  Last night I started having a little diarrhea.  Today I have had major diarrhea all day, I have no appetite, and I have been having severe hot flashes all day.  I will just feel like I am on fire and start sweating.  Otherwise, I feel better.  I am not weak or dizzy like I was when I was running fever.  I don't know what is going on.  Could I have drank so much water that it messed up my stomach?  Or can I blame all of this on pregnancy hormones?  Is this diarrhea something infectious realted to the fever? I just worry about all of things that could be wrong that would harm my baby (like salmonella,etc.)  I will call the doctor monday if this is still going on.  Please keep my baby in your prayers.

It could just be a 24-hour type flu. I hope that is what it is and nothing more serious. Take care of yourself and feel better soon!

I felt the same way on Friday. I actually had such bad diarrhea that I lost 4 pounds.  I called the OB's office very concerned and was told to push fluids, preferably clear (although I did drink some gatorade because of the electrolytes), avoid anything high in fiber, avoid apple juice, and eat lots of bananas and if I started throwing up to go to the ER for fear of dehydration.  I think I literally had chicken broth and a banana for every meal yesterday.  I feel a lot better today, I can stay out of the bathroom and I don't have the cramping but I still don't have much of an appetite. I would also suggest Boost or Ensure if you aren't able to eat much... they are full of nutrients and calories but easier on the digestive system.  I hope you feel better quickly and you and your babe will be in my prayers!

Can you call your doctor now or go to the ER? I wouldn't wait in case it is something requiring antibiotics, plus if you were already dehydrated and now have diarrhea that could make it worse.

T&Ps that it's nothing and it passes and you feel better soon.

I've had diarrhea at various times throughout my pregnancy so far, especially 1st Tri. It's changed now to constipation more often, but it still happens. I also wound up in the ER one day around 10w because I was dehydrated and had the same stomach symptoms you are describing. I would bet that you have a bug. The flashes, dizziness, even upset stomach can be from low blood pressure. My doctor also said any of these things can just be from hormone changes. I am sending you t&ps even though I know you will both be fine!!

It could be the flu or other illness, or it could be your body reacting to the PG hormones.  Either way I would be on the phone with your doctor (OB or primary).

I'd call the clinic right away and see if you can ask the on-call doc about the diarrhea.  It can be a sign of pre-term labor, though if you've been sick, it could be related to that as well.
