First, thanks to all of you for your replies to my post the other day about your twins' names. There were some nice suggestions there! I was surprised to see three MoMs with a daughter names Keira! I've never met a Keira -- maybe this name is on a upswing?
Regardless, it happens to be one name that both DH and I both had on our list although we seem to pronounce it differently!...and of course, this will mean that we are having two boys, but how do you pronounce Keira?.....
1. Key-rah
2. Keir-ah
3. other (and what is that?)
P.S. I'm sure I did not put the correct phoenetical abbreviations, but hopefully you can figure it out!
Re: How do you pronounce "Keira/Kiera"?
After 2 rounds of IVF & 2 rounds of FET, we were blessed with identical twin girls!
I've always pronounced it as having 3 syllables instead of two, but thats just because I had a friend with that name growing up.
Key-are-uh
I have a little sister name Kirah and it's pronounced Key-ruh. That's how I would pronounce Keira/Kiera.
I also have a cousin name Kiara and it's Key-ah-ruh.
This!
Keira- Keir-ah
Kiera- Key-are-uh
It's Key-ra, and you have to say it loudly and British:
KEY-RA KNIGHT-LY!
This is how I always pronounced it.
This! So maybe a good idea to pick something else? My name (which is not Julianna BTW) is not hard to pronounce but I've ALWAYS had to spell it because I have the "less common" spelling...and it's frustrating as h*ll. It's for that reason that I gave my LOs names that are easy to both spell AND pronounce.
