ROP Decision Update

Hi ladies,

Thank you so much to those who responded with their experiences and thoughts on the ROP treatment options.

We ended up going with the laser surgery and decided to sedate him without putting him back on the vent.  Annnnnnnnnd -- he did GREAT!!  I don't think the current rounding doctor was thrilled with the choice at first, but our primary doctor was in full support of this choice and felt that Colin was strong enough to handle it.  The surgery went well, and the eye doctor thinks it was very successful.

My DH and I spent a lot of time thinking about and talking through our options on this one and I think we ended up making the best choice for Colin and for our family.

Thanks again!! :)

Re: ROP Decision Update

  • wonderful news - I'm sure the surgery will be successful - my DD just had another eye exam today and the doctor was telling me how high the success rate is.  I think you and your H did a good thing thinking over your options and choosing what was best! kudos
