DE ladies

Did you have an attorny look over your contract/consent form before you signed it and gave it back to your clinic?

Ours mentions this but I'm not sure why we would need to.  As far as I can tell it basically just says we have to pay and there may or may not be a baby and if there are problems it's not their fault...

Re: DE ladies

  • We didn't have an attorney look over the one between us and the agency and donor. But we are having one that is separate between us and the donor (that is being drawn up by a lawyer). The one that says she will not claim the eggs/child as her own.

We used a donor from a clinic donor pool, so all of that was taken care of.  I think I would have a lawyer look through things if we were using a private agency.

I wish you all the best!

  • My clinic requires that we have a reproductive attorney draw up our legal agreement.  They won't let us move forward until they have notice from the attorney that the legal agreement is in place.

  • We used a private donor egg agency that works with my RE and we had to pay a legal fee to have lawyers draw up the contract.  It states how our donor cannot claim the embryos or any children that are born as a result of her egg donation as her own and that they are legally our children, among other things.

    Thanks.

We'll be using a donor from our clinic's pool as well.   I'll be interested to see if the donor has to sign anything about not being able to claim the child.  I'm pretty sure our form says something like we can't ask for money because they aren't a legal parent.

This is how mine worked too. I did look over our contract with the clinic very closely and tried to make a couple of changes, but they wouldn't change anything.

  • We used an outside agency and they have an agreement that was drafted by a lawyer that they wouldn't change so we read through it carefully and signed it.  We did have an attorney draft an agreement between us and the donor.  We also paid for an attorney for the donor so she could review it with one as well.  We signed our copy, she signed hers and our attorney's office keeps it since it is anonymous.

    Good luck!!!
